Name & History
Also known as “Brown Holland” bell pepper Chocolate Beauty Sweet Pepper got the name obviously from its color. Its story begins at around late 1600s somewhere between Panama and S. America. It found its way to Europe through Spanish and Portoguise explorers and arrived in Holland about 1750. The Dutchess are well known for their elite taste, so they soon adopted chocolate beauty sweet pepper and started cultivating and growing it in breeding farms and hot greenhouses. The rest is history and we can now present you one of the most favorite to be sweet bell peppers!
Description
The plant grows to a two-foot bush with green pointy leaves and ivory color flowers. Fruits turn from green to golden-rusty cast, and finally transmute to a mahogany hue that resembles chocolate! Its flesh is thick and crispy, but also juicy and a pleasure to eat raw. Fruit size is medium—large, and it gets sweeter as it ripes.
Culinary uses
One of the favorites among many cookers and gardeners , you can literally do anything you want with this bell pepper! Absence of heat make it a great choice for eating raw on your salads or your sandwich but its taste is also exceptional when roasted or use it for stuffing. So chocolate beauty is an all a rounder that you will not regret growing it!

Cultivation tips
- Start indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost.
- It may take more the usual to germinate
- Transplant when no risk of frost and temp above 15C
- Nightshade family specie here, so supply it with Calcium based fertilizer or pelleted gypsum.
